Its 1400-page rating is more than 50% that of the HP 940 Yellow Officejet Ink Cartridge (C4905AN) but it costs only a little more. Definitely preferred even for a casual user because, unless you use your printer as a fashion statement or status symbol in the office, you ARE going to have to replace a 900-page cartridge, sooner or later. The 1,400 page rating is based on HP's testing methodology meaning that it's highly unlikely that you will get 1,400 pages out of your cartridge. If you make copies, if you print photos, if you use the high quality settings you are going to run out of ink much sooner but the fact remains that you do get a lot more ink in this cartridge than in the 'regular' one. HP claims (couldn't verify) that using Officejet inks on papers with the ColorLok logo the output will retain color quality 'for decades'.
