What's the Lowest Size for an Interstate Motorcycle?

  • I'm in college and I'm looking to buy a motorcycle. I don't have a lot of money to spend, but I need a bike that will be good on the interstate for about 200 miles in one shot, because I will be traveling from home to school every few weekends. The 250cc (even though much less expensive) just won't cut it. What size bike / HP should I be looking for? What would be the smallest or least expensive bike that you would recommend for my kind of riding? Thanks

  • Answer:

The 250 should cut it; but the larger the engine the lower the RPM it needs to operate at to get things done. I think a 600cc is a great bike for the interstate; plenty of power, low enough price (because there are so many out there) and available as a cruiser or crotch rocket.
