Not just for young adults. Once I started book 1, I was hooked. I couldn't stop reading until all 3 books were finished. These books will take you into a world where you wouldn't want to live, but yet are enthralled by it. Suzanne Collins is definitely at the top of the game with these books. More than anything though, it's completely compelling. Can't wait for the movie with Jennifer Lawrence. Should be something. It's amazing how much the book affected me. And just a heads-up that parts are pretty violent (quite brutal, in fact) and much of it is really unsettling, but you can't say the book's dull. It'll always keep you engaged. So, despite the violence, if you can get through it, it should prove quite an intrepid read. Opens your mind and your emotions, most definitely. Really, a must-read. I got this from the library originaly. I should of just bought it. OH.MY.WORD!!!!! This book is so action packed, emotional,and the story flows so smoothly! To explain the story itself- Long story short- extreme communist American government drives youth to survival of the fittest. The way the kids are treated in the book itself is horrible, but it makes you want to cheer for the good guys. Seriously. I caught myself gasping as if I was watching an extremely intense movie scene when I had to put this book down to do something. It is that good! Its such an "on the edge of your seat" and "stay up till 4am reading it" book. Nothing. Like. Twilight.Or. Harry Potter. This book has totally unexpected story line. There are no vampires, no wizards, no magic. But for some amazing reason- Suzanne Collins took reality and actully made it exciting. There are no boring parts. Each chapter ends at a place where you simply HAVE to read one more. I read this book in less than 1 day... I had to sleep between reading it, so if I never stopped for breaks it might have been 4 hours. Simply CANNOT WAIT to read Catching Fire- and you won't be able to wait either. JUST ORDER IT NOW!
