You just have to follow the on screen directions. Once you begin, the macros, etc are easily set up and just take moments to enter. You can erase and start over very easily if you mess up. Remote has feature to erase one button, one device, or whole remote. The remote is heavier than most and feels solid. It has a very nice design. The color screen is cool and looks expensive. I am very pleased with this remote. I use in it connection with a Dinky Link remote eye (over a 50ft run of Cat 5 wiring). You will be pleased with your purchase. Example, I wanted to: Turn on TV, change to HDMI 2, turn on Receiver, select Blu-Ray, done Instead it was: Turn on TV, select on-screen Input menu, arrow down 5 times to select HDMI 2, press enter, turn on Receiver, etc etc. I was hoping to replace my $30 Logitech which does discrete input switching for all my devices, but no such luck. A major feature like this is a complete deal breaker and makes it unusable. You can program them in by "learning" from other remotes I suppose.
