All they wanted to do was "fish" the whole time! They held up very well, since my kids like to fish in the dirt as well. You can just keep the weight on for the little ones, then upgrade to a real hook when they're ready. By far, my kids favroite toy! The don't get tangled like big kid rods. Very easy to use.
