I am a big chicken and also since my husband had to administer them, it was a little scary. I would draw a circle on my bumm, put a nickle sized blob of the cream in the circle and cover with a piece of saran wrap (about a 3" square). About 5 minutes later I'd wipe the cream off and hubby would shove the needle in the circle. I could barely feel it. I tested this theory and had him do one shot without the cream and there was definitely more pain without the LMX. Special Note - once I found out I was pregnant I had to continue the shots, at which time I discontinued the LMX because I did not know if the chemicals in it could affect the baby, and didn't want to find out the hard way. During those times I tried ice (before) then heat (after) for the shots. I have read this is good to use if you are getting a tattoo and are sensitive.
