Is staring at the computer screen bad for your eyes?

Is staring at a harsh white computer screen bad for your eyes? say, like the answerbag screen?

    Yes but the effect is not as direct as it seems. When a person is logged on computer the eye-blink rate is lowered considerably. This leads to dry eyes (blinking eye secrets water to keep eyes moist). This was also my personal experience which forced me(and also doctor advised)to avoid wearing contact lens for long intervals at the computer.

Certainly, yes. Not as bad as a dark screen with colored text or a dark screen with white text. This is why doctors recommend looking away from the screen frequently. Better yet, every once in awhile, take a short walk around your space or outdoors and look at the sky. swabby
