Why do people eat ham on x-mas and easter if it is a religious holiday for Jesus, being he was a Jew and Jews don't eat pork?

Answer:
During the Pagan winter solstice (Yule) and the Spring equinox (Saturnalia), slaughtering a pig was a common ritual. Orthodox Christianity (Catholicism) adapted most major Pagan holidays into their calendric dogma as a pragmatic method of converting Pagans, dating back to several hundred years CE.

In the Old Testament, the Jews were not allowed to eat certain types of meat because they were considered unclean. With Jesus a new convenant was started and according to Matthew 15:10-11 "Jesus called the crowd to him and said, 'Listen and understand. What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.'" Then further into Matthew 15:17-20 Jesus is speaking-"Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.' For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what make a man 'unclean'; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him 'unclean.'" Hope this helps answer your question. Jesus changed quite a few rules. While Old Testament called for “eye for an eye” Jesus’ teaching called for “turning another cheek.” The matter of eating is explained in the New Testament – Matthew 15:11. Matthew 15:11 (NIV) "11 What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.' " Hope this helps...

I know this isn't an answer and if there was a facility to comment your question I would make my point there, but why do you say x-mas instead of Christmas or christmas. I have seen other people write x-ians (or something similar) - why? I understand why some Jewish people write G_d but I cannot understand how people ask a question in the Religions category and use your abbreviation, are you trying to make some kind of point? By the way I have no firmly held religious beliefs, but I think this sort of abbreviation is deliberately confrontational.
