Yeah, it's not a great score, but average is supposed to be 1500, so you are well above average! The scores are completely relative to where you are applying to college. I scored a 2250 and I didn't get into every school I applied to.

I am a SAT tutor and work with a site http://www.examville.com (Examville prepare students for SAT, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, TOEFL. We have one of the best study material , Practice tests, Prep tests and live classes) Of course your score is above average and for new SAT score is 2400 average is 1500. An 1800 is approximately like getting a 1200 on the old scale. To judge your score based on the old scale, just add your critical reading and math scores together, and that should give you some idea.

That is a PHENOMINAL score!I am tutor with a site called http://www.examville.com (prepares student for SAT, GMAT, LSAT, GRE), one of my student is trying to get that score and have been prepping for quite some time now and a pretty good student. So be proud of yourself! Columbia and MIT are extremely selective schools so you want to get your score above a 2000+. Don't stress it. Good luck :)
