You have to loosen the plug first before making any connection and then tighten it back afterward. It comes in a heavy duty plastic case, which u need a screwdriver to open up. Wow, they simply are the nicest SubWoofer cables I have ever seen, and I have even had Monster cables in the past. The cable is Unidirectional, so it has arrows on it for the signal flow direction. I hooked up the Y-Cable with the two males to my Klipsch RW-10d subwoofer, and the other end with the male to my AMP sub out. AR packages these like they are diamonds in a phenomenal case -- these are TOTAL QUALITY, AND NO NOISE WHAT SO EVER!!!
