How can i send some one a text through my computer?

Is there any free online SMS services that would allow me to recieve messages to the computer? (already know ones that you can send text messages but need to find one you can recieve them from).

    I think this is unlikely. I did quite a bit of searching and came to the conclusion that the reason you won't get this for free is that the service provider needs to actually create a virtual phone number to hook into the system, and the amount of hardware, infrastructure, and support staff required to make such a system work would be hard to justify.

Actually there is. I've been using a site called Joopz for about a year. Their service is flawless and free! Under the free account you get 50 outgoing messages a month. If you need more than that the premium subscription only runs a couple of bucks a month. It also allows you to create groups of contacts and send a message out to the whole group and allows you to set up reminders to be texted to your phone at the specified time. joopz.com
