Answer:
The version that you can download for free contains images that may be up to 5 years old. I know this for a fact by looking at areas I know well. The image shown for my current home is less than 8 months old. A hotel I worked on in 2003 in Arizona still shows up as an empty lot. If you pay the money for the full version, all of the images are supposed to be current.
