How do terms work in college?

HI recently lost my job. Its a strange situation (& a long story).I did nothing wrong, and all was left on good terms.Thing is, I have no schooling or real work experience. I'm young and looking for a job to work through college. Suggestions?

Wow - people can be kinda harsh in those other "answers". You weren't asking for a free ride, you were asking for suggestions on good places to apply for work (where they'd be flexable, etc). I recommend applying for a job at places like: Starbucks Barnes and Noble UPS Trader Joes Babies/Toys/Kids R Us Container Store Fedex, Costco Williams-Sonoma/Pottery Barn JCPenney Macy's Walgreens Target Home Depot J. Crew does Grocery stores -- like: Jewel (owned by Albertsons) Dominick's (owned by Safeway), Whole Foods OFFER BENEFITS TO even PART TIMERS! (Sometimes if you don't want benefits, they'll even pay it out to you) They may also have some sort of college tuition reimbursement sorts of programs. Make a resume, listing your schooling and what work experience you do have - and since you don't have much -- if you did work at your school (highshool), like working in their office, etc.. you can add that too. Just be sure you mention that it was while you were enrolled in school there. Dress up - nice dressy pants, a nice shirt (button down) and a jacket. (Suit-like, you don't have to wear an actualy suit == yes, it pertains to both guys and girls!) If you're applying for a clothing store job, be sure you're dressing a little more modern (without going over board, or being too casual). Smile (and be nice! Treat everyone you talk to like they could be the ones giving you the job - it could mean the difference between them actually giving your resume to the right person or throwing it in the trash!) and ask to speak to the manager/human resources (if it's an office you end up applying in), etc. Let them know you're interested in working for their company. It can take a lot of work, but worth it. Once you gain more experience at that company, you'll be able to get bigger-better jobs after. You can also look into a work-release/job training sorts of programs. They encourage working and going to school, and they are geared toward giving people work experience. You can go to a temping/job placement agency and they will not only help you put your resume together, but will help look for a job for you. It's a tough market out there right now, but if you perservere, you'll find something. You may not want to necessarily work at a clothing store, grocery store, etc.. but those are the kinds of places where they will hire you even when you don't have any or much work-experiences. Good luck!!
