Would my irrelevant work experience be a problem?

Is it possible that two people who really love eachther and want things to work can work out 2 oposite religion backgrounds? (catholic, prodistant) because when it comes to raising kids i can see a problem arising. any ideas or experience on this?

  • Answer:

If the Catholic wants to be married in the Roman Catholic Church, the parties will have to agree that any children of the marriage will be raised in the Roman Catholic Faith. Both parties are obviously Christian. Does neither party want to join the other's church?

It really depends on your religion, your beliefs and how much they are a part of your lives. For me, it wold be impossible, first off we are commanded not to marry "outside the Lord' and I just couldn't live with a future for me that would be different from his. If I believed one thing and he believed another, it would be sad to think that we are living our life together only in this place and for this time if our religions tell us we will be in a different place later. To ponder over my eternal future with my mate believing and living a different eventuality would be too painful. Plus it is very important to me that we ahve the same values and beliefs, the same place to go for counsel and help. If that was different, I could see how it could cause problems between us. It is just happier and healthier for both of us to believe the same way, even without children.

First, those two religions are hardly opposites. I think if an Evangelical Christian can make a marriage work with a Muslim, then you should be able to make this work. Obviously it is possible, but there are going to be issues and they should be discussed before you get married.

In today's society I believe it is alright:) I mean when you have children they will have 2 religions; just respec each other's religion & love each other:)

sure, why not? openness to each other is a good thing... insistence tends to cause challenges... full appreciation and acceptance of each other is a good thing... conditional love tends to cause challenges... that's it, have a good day...:)
