Short film ideas with no people?

I've forgotten the name of a film I saw as a child. people trapped on a planet/desert while airborne 'things' were 'eating' TIME?! sort of like pacman. that's how the past disappears... can't remember owt else - any ideas?

  The closest thing I can think of is the 1995 TV movie, The Langoliers... it had Dean Stockwell, a face you may remember from the show, Quantum Leap. Passengers on an airplane went through a wormhole, and landed only to find all earth's inhabitants have disappeared (except for them, of course). They had gone slightly into the past, and the Langoliers come around to eat it up. They look like freaky PacMen, snarling with razors for teeth and are superfast.
