What's better: A modest townhouse walking distance to communter rail and shopping with no yard but near parks OR a big house far out in the country near nothing but with a big yard? I have kids. One is 7 and the other a baby due in October. Need opinions.

Answer:
The modest townhouse is more accessible to the grocery store, which may make sense if you need to go there often. The big house in the country may be safer due to the lack of traffic. Then there are budget issues. A house that is easily accessible to shopping and employment costs more, but do not need to spend quite so much for transportation. The remote house costs less, but transportation costs more.
