What's wrong if I feel weak every time after I finish eating?

I think I have lost my mind. In the past few days, every time I eat a big dinner, I feel more hungry after I finish eating than before I started. Has anyone experienced this, and what could be wrong with me?

Oh yeah, not only that, I can just keep eating all day. You have to learn how to sort of hypnotize yourself into thinking you are full. Drink lots of water, it will fill you up and you can keep drinking it all day without adding calories. The best thing to do is just eat one thing then stop and wait 30 minutes before you eat anything else. You may feel full by then because it takes that long for your brain to realize your full.

You may have an allergy to something you're eating. I used to have this feeling after eating dairy fat, cheese especially. I have an allergy to it, but not in the way one might think. (i.e. anaphylaxis, which is a typical allergic reaction) But instead it causes my system to secrete less of the hormone that makes one feel full and satisfied. So essentially, the more cheese I eat, the more food I want. Not good. If you find this is troublesome or causes you to gain unwanted weight, you should ask your doctor about it. All the best to you.

i stay away from chinese foods - i'm hungry within 15 minutes of eating dessert. stress? life changes? metabolic changes? bowel changes? new prescription medication? changes in foods you eat? once in a while i have experienced hunger after a meal - very often it's related to not eating enough. drinking a glass or so of water helps fill us up. i haven't experienced this. i wouldn't worry about it for the first handful of days. if it persists, i'd schedule an appointment with my primary care physician or gastroenterologist.

What are you eating? If you are eating a lot of carbs and little protein, that may be your problem. Carbs metabolize quickly, give you energy for the short term, and leave you quickly..so if you are eating tons of pasta, bagels, noodles, fruit, candy, etcetera, you are on a perpetual eating frenzy caused by the carb overload. You need protein to calm things down..protein metabolizes more slowly and stay with you longer. Also fat gets a bad rap. If you eat things with some fat you will feel full longer...if you eat low-fat items, many times sugar is added for flavor when fat is taken away, and back you go on the carb merry go round. Try fewer carbs, more protein and see what happens! :)

You're just a strapping young lad, yes? As long as you aren't consuming a huge amount of calories per day, I say go with it. If you feel you are eating too much and compromising your overall health, then contact your physician to get some more information!

I was reading the terrible advice above and your response to it. This is my take on your situation: You're eating pretty healthily, at least the dinner that you were describing sounded great. Try a little bit more fat at night to help satiate your hunger. The best fats for you are obviously the Monounsaturated kind, such as olive oil, though polyunsaturated fats are good too. Saturated fats aren't *necessarily* bad for you as long as you don't eat too many of them. Butter, in small amounts, can be good for you. Avoid margarine at all costs and any other kind of trans-fat. (Basically try to keep your food as un-processed as possible). Also, try drinking more water. I don't know where you live, but around here the recommended water consumption daily (for a hot, dry location) is around 4 liters for the average adult MINIMUM. It is fairly common for someone to feel hungry after eating simply because of dehydration. So stay hydrated! I would also like to reiterate the whole protein/carbs thing: eat more carbs in the morning, and less throughout the rest of the day, but also keep protein and fats represented as well. Stay away from eating too many simple carbs, such as white sugars & the like, which metabolize *very* quickly and therefore don't stick with you. So try eating more complex carbohydrates such as whole grains & wheat. My favorite breakfast is raw oatmeal in the morning with some granola & 2% milk =) and a couple of eggs on the side.. this has a lot of semi-soluble fiber in it, so if your digestive system isn't used to the fiber, it may make your stomach feel funny until you get used to it, but make sure that you get enough fiber in the day, as it is great for keeping your digestive system nice & clean (as is drinking enough water). You could also try eating a snack of some sort a little while before your dinner, so that you aren't starving when you begin eating it in the first place, and eat slowly. If none of this helps, and your problem doesn't get resolved, go talk to a doctor!
