10-27-08 Had two trees (black walnut & ash) cut down in the spring. The stumps have been ground down. I wanted to add a raised bed garden to the area for the 09 summer. Is it ok to do this?

Answer:
You should be able to. In the spring, when you see trees budding check the area around where your old stumps were. If you don't see any suckers or new growth trying to shoot up you should be good to build your raised bed. If you do see any new signs of a tree trying to make a comeback you'll have to get the stump grinder back and go over it again. Out of 14 trees that I cut and ground, I only had 1 that I had to regrind the next year. I hope this helps, good luck.
