Since it may take up to four weeks before an application for a Kenyan visa is approved, apply well in advance to avoid any delays or changes in your travel plans. The online application is available on the homepages of the Consular Services of the Embassy of Kenya in Washington, DC, Consular Services Kenya Consulate in New York and Consular Services Kenya Consulate in Los Angeles, California. Select the link to the Kenyan Embassy/Consulate that is closest to your location. Read the overview information and then select the "Continue with Online Application" button located at the bottom of the page. Choose your visa type under the "Type of Visa" section and then complete the online visa application form by typing your information into the different boxes and then following the prompts. Download, print and then sign the completed application. Get two 2 inch by 2 inch color photographs of yourself. The photo must be taken against a plain background and your face must be visible on the picture; make sure the photo is taken within six months of your visa application. Staple the photos to the top left-hand corner of the printed visa application. Make a photocopy of the front and back of your birth certificate. Get a money order or cashier's check covering the processing fee for your visa. As of 2010, the processing fee for a single entry visa is USD $25, USD $50 for a multiple entry visa and USD $10 for a transit visa. The money order or cashier's check must be payable to "Embassy of the Republic of Kenya" if you submitting your application to Consular Services of Embassy of Kenya in Washington, DC; the money order or cashier's check must be payable to "The Kenya Consulate" if you are submitting your application to a Kenyan consular office. Get documented proof from a travel agent showing your flight itinerary or confirmed booking. The document displaying this information must clearly display the travel agent's letterhead. Mail your completed application, supporting documents and a valid passport via certified mail to the Kenyan Embassy or Consulate that is nearest to your location; you must include a self-addressed stamped return envelope with delivery confirmation.
