HELP!im 16, 2 days ago my back tooth hurt for 2 days> then yesterday when i woke up the pain was gone but the gum next to my tooth is swollen and puffy. does anyone know how I can get the swelling to go down?

Gargle w/salt water, don't take a chance go see your dentist please. it could be an infection. Do you have a fever? Your too young for wisdom teeth so it can't be that yet. Make an emergency appt to see your dentist, you don't want to lose any teeth.

This is not a home-remedy situation. Please ask an adult to help you get some care. Your tooth problem was ignored and became a gum problem... and if it hasn't already, will affect your heart. You need to see your dentist asap, and if your dentist can't see you, call your GP for antibiotics until you can get to a dentist or oral surgeon. Tooth infections can kill, don't wait.

Your tooth has died. It hurt badly as it was dying, but now that it is dead the pain has stopped. The infection has moved out of your tooth and is around your tooth. This can be very serious as the infection can continue to grow and the whole side of your face can swell. You need to either have a root canal or have the tooth removed.
