How to get artwork in gallery?

How can I get my artwork noticed?

• I'm an artist who specializes in charcoal drawings - usually 19x25'' in size. I really want to get my artwork noticed, but don't know how to go about doing this. Most art galleries seem to have a specific type or style of artwork that they prefer to show. Do I simply call up or e-mail an art gallery and ask that they display my work? I live in a small town and the closest thing we have to a large display of art occurs on a seasonal basis in the form of 'Gallery Walks' where artists display their work temporarily before it's taken down in a few day's time. Are there any on-line art galleries that accept a wide range of mediums and styles that anyone can recommend? Or maybe even a place where I can enter my work to be critiqued or judged. Any advice? :)

  First of all, get it online for exposure so people can see it. take a digital copy and put it into your "about me" section of answerbag so we can see it. There are websites that will put up your artwork on a commission / donation basis to the website. Having such a website, i would enjoy seeing your artwork as well. Good luck.
