How to get yahoo's email alert to work?

If you and your colleagues both misuse email system at work but only you get the sack, does it class as unfair dismissal?? ADVICE PLEASE...

  • last week one of my colleague also a friend got suspended for inappropriate email at work basically it was a private conversation between him and this other guy but this other guy accidently forwarded the email to the whole team... now someone must have forwarded the email to the managers. as we are close friends we email each other at work but he didnt delete the emails i sent him... now i got suspended at work for the same offence along with 2 more of my colleagues. so the 4 of us got suspended at work pending further investigation, i know for a fact everyone at work use email for general chit chat... to be fair then everyone should get suspended right? but other guy who forwarded the email didnt get suspended but instead me and my other colleague got suspended... anyways my question is say like if they fire me cos of gross misconduct and the others got away with a written warning, would that class as unfair dismissal? sure;y if we commit the same offence then we should get the same punishment???

  • Answer:

Get real, you did the crime now do the time. If you and your friend were good workers (obviously you are not), and you got a promotion and he didn't would you be on here posting how unfair it is? NO!! Do not worry about what everyone elses punishment is. Have some self accountability and move on.

Aww heck: That sounds complicated. It does seem a little unfair, because you didn't send it to everyone, and the one who fowarded the message to all should have been the one in the hot seat. I would definately take issue with the "other guy" because they disclosed something you wanted kept private, and when a person forwards a message they accept some responsibility for content. But unless the private usage of email is contrary to IT policy, then you have cause for argument. But at the end of the day, don't trust anyone.

sure - it would be counted as an unfair dismissal, but depending on how long you have been with the company and as long as you didn't violate any IT code of conduct, you could probably sue. But try and find an ambulance chaser lawyer to represent you - unfair dismissal is hard to prove in court and you would have to have a lot of tenure with the company to make it worthwhile. It's better to learn your lesson (never trust anyone at work and never put anything in writting that you wouldn't want anyone to see) and find another job.
