i have met people that finished college who have became so arrogant and mean and think their all that its like they went to college not to becaome better person or heelp people but for something else i know there are people who went to college that are very nice and respectful but so far the once i met are that way .i also know few people that did not went to college but are doing just fine. just because you went to college doesnt make you better than everyone else or smarter than everyone. i hate it when people think college is the only solution.

Answer:
In the USA college and university are usually freely interchanged. In many other countries college is more like Vocational schools in the USA. I agree not everyone is "university" material but because so much equipment and systems are high tech it is important to have specialized education to care for these systems. Almost every business has some form of education for their employees and this includes from McDonald's and Burger King to the most high tech corporations. Many companies will not consider someone for employment if they do not have education beyond high school. No, university is not for everyone but college (vocational education) is for those not suited for university work.

Furthering your education is not something that is for everyone. However, it does seem to open more doors for employment opportunities. It isn't only the academic learning that is important, but the social aspect as well. A degree shows people that you have the fortitude to stick with something and finish it, and that you are capable of finding the answers if you don't already know them. It may not seem very important when you are 20 or even 30, but when you are older people will take you more seriously.

True, there are many famous people who never went to college yet are successful in their fields. And people make a big deal out of college thinking and believing that it is the be all and end all solution to assure one of a great future, which unfortunately don't usually happen because college degree does not guarantee success.

Well, I guess people look at it as a big deal because not everyone goes through with it.. I don't see why it should be a huge deal though.. I know a lot of people who never went to college, and are doing just fine :) I also know people who went to college for a certain study, and never ended up finding a job for it. Like you said, its not for everyone :)
