Are technical professionals smarter than other professionals in other fields?

Computer programmers/IT "professionals": Was there any indication when you were very young that you were interested in those fields?

  • Answer:

I always liked electronics, but was more interested in what I could do with them than how to design and build them. Later, I took an interest in timepieces and how the mechanisms interacted. With IT, I wanted to see how fast a system would run and for how long if I overclocked a processor. I wasn't happy until I could build a computer from scratch and then create the network I would attach it to.

I was interested in it for a few years but just simple stuff ... I was going to do Chemistry because I liked it a lot but got accepted to Computer Science and figured I will take a shot at it.

My field wasn't around when I was young, but at age 13(1976) I was attracted to computers when I would have to stay with my mother at her job. Her's was not the computer room, but I was facinated and started learning then from the programmers, that computers were my love.

I'm 14. Made my first site when I was about 11. It was a crappy thing made in publisher, but it opened doors. Massive doors. Now I'm doing a Diploma in Digital Applications and work in a related industry.
