Answer:
Sounds like a made up story. I can not see how any store needs a two week notice for 25 customers to shop. If this has to be done in a 15 minute period, perhaps.

Something tells me there's more to this than what this website is saying, knowing the posters propensity for tin foil hat websites, I'm sure this is the case.

How bizarre.

They made a business decision. It seems that they would rather not piss off and potentially lose their regular, year round customers than to accomidate a once-a-year group who doesn't give far enough in advance notice so Target could prepare for the event. They did a cost/benefit analysis and made a busines decision. Their right to do so. I do wonder why they would have to call ahead to inform the store that they are planning to shop their. There has got to be way more to this story that The Consumerist is not reporting. I would bet you $10,000 that traditionally, this annual event was populated with way too out of control teenagers who run about the store causing a lot of chaos resulting in many complaints from their regular customers.

Not sure. I read a letter that the teacher supposedly wrote, and she said that the kids buy about $2000 worth of stuff and all get in the same line to check out. She said it usually takes the cashier about half an hour to ring everything up. I suppose I can see how monopolizing one cashier during a time when my local Target usually only has one or two lanes open could present a problem. Maybe the store has gotten a lot of complaints from other customers in the past because they couldn't check out in a timely manner? It would have been gracious of them to allow the kids to shop anyway (if possible - I don't know the store's situation), but at the same time, it also would have been gracious of the teacher to say "Oh sorry, I didn't realize it was causing problems, can we try for the following Friday, then?" It seems like an easy enough issue to solve.

Wow, what mega douches. They should spend their money at a local store and by-pass the mega stores all together. Lame.
