How do you get a 1992 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition to stay running in cold weather?

  You might have a blown head gasket. You might have some condensation or antifreeze mixing a little in your engine and it will run ruff for a few minutes. The colder it gets outside the worse it will get. I have a 99 exploder and it does the same thing in the winter time. When I start it, it will idle really low and sometimes die without help on the accelerator. Try new spark plugs, replace air filter, spray air inake cleaner in intake manifold, in other words do a really good tune-up. If the check engine light is on take it to auto zone and have them read what error codes the engine has. They don't rease the old codes anymore but you can still disconnect the power cable from the battery for about 15mins to erase all the data from the computer and the light will turn off. If there is still something wrong with it the light will come on after about 50 miles or sometiimes after you start the car 7 times. When it gets really cold, my car will ping and sputter until I step on the gas. For some reason, this problem only happens the first time I start my car of each day. I purchased BG 44K for my car. It worked like a miracle. Two days after putting it into my vehicle, my Explorer starts perfectly no matter the whether. I paid about twenty dollars for it. Don't waste your money on anything else until you try this stuff. It is GREAT!!!
