Why did the South lose the Civil War?

Why did the South deserved to lose the Civil War because of its dependence on slavery?

  • Answer:

The North had a population of about 22 Million people, the South had about 8 Million with 1/3 of those being slaves. An argument can be made if the South had more men available they quite possibly could have won. When looking purely at numbers the North lost many more casualties in nearly every battle. Another argument is that if Stonewall Jackson hadn't been shot riding back to his headquarters he would have not waited and seized the high ground on Little Round Top and could have changed the outcome of the war.
