What is the difference between an Electrical Engineering Technologist and an Electrical Engineering Technician?

  Engineering technicians use the principles and theories of science, engineering, and mathematics to solve technical problems in a variety of engineering fields. Engineering technicians generally have 2 year associates degrees. A lot of techs just install or help engineers with the hands-on start-up or troubleshooting of systems & equipment. Electrical engineering technologists assist engineers in the design, drafting, and technical skills to implement engineering ideas. EET's generally possess a 4-year bachelors degree. Although the term can be somewhat misleading, someone with a BS in Electrical Engineering Technology can obtain the same job as someone with a BSEE. The EET degree usually focuses on the implimentation of design, while EE focuses on design and theory. The EE degree generally contains higher level math courses than the EET degree.
