Are Straight pipes bad for your engine?

Can you run straight pipes on a 2.5 ranger without damaging the engine?

  • Answer:

you could have problems like loss of performance burnt valves and expensive fines lol I don't believe the part about burnt valves will be understood correctly. "straight pipes" in the question would mean to me (as the question is obviously from a kid) that he wants to cut the cat and muffler out of the system. If so, then have at it with the cautions the 1st contributor noted. I'm laughing too! Your performance probably will not suffer UNLESS your vehicle is one which uses exhaust back pressure to set the fuel/air mixture, and as long as your pipes extend somewhere around 18 inches from the exhaust manifolds there should be no damage to the valves. Be sure to roll the windows down, turn the radio off and tell all passengers to remain silent in order to get the FULL EFFECT. rotf and lmao !!!!! I would also like to point out that your neighbors may become unfriendly faster than you think. lol
