How Can I Block Ads On Google Chrome?

How to Block Ads in Google Chrome

  • Answer:

Google Chrome has had trouble wooing users away from Mozilla Firefox because it doesn't have any specific ad-blocking applications. However, there is a way to reduce your ad intake substantially while using Chrome. Difficulty: Moderate Instructions Download the Privoxy web proxy. You can get it at the Privoxy main page, which will have all the most recent versions. You will need to make sure you download the right version for your operating system, as the proxy won't work if you download it for the wrong system. Install Privoxy. If you are using Windows, the installaltion should be self explanatory. You may want to double check the owner's manual if you are running anything else as the install can get quite tricky otherwise Once it is installed, open Google Chrome. Click on the wrench icon that is in the upper left corner. Select "Options," and when the menu pops up, go to the "Under the Hood" tab. Click on "Change Proxy Settings." Go to the "Connections" tab, and then click on "Lan Settings" (at the bottom). Check the Proxy settings box, and in the address bar add 127.0.0.1 and add 8118 for the port. Click "OK" and then restart Chrome. When you open it back up, you should have a more ad-free experience (although you will still see a few).
