  Sending a large attachment with an email has become a commonplace occurrence for both professionals and users of home computers. Large files take too long to send over the internet, even with fast connection speeds, so it's a good idea to use a file that will compress the individual files into what is called an archive. WinZip is one of the most popular programs for sending large attachments and is very affordable. Here are the steps to sending a large attachment by email using WinZip. Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions Double click on the WinZip icon on your desktop or find it on your Toolbar, then open the program. Click on the New button to create a new archive (a file) in which to compress the files you wish to send. It's a good idea to create the archive in the same directory as the files that are going to be compressed. Give the archive file a name that helps you to relate to it later on. It will have a .zip suffix, so you can use a similar name to the files you are going to compress and it will be more recognizable. Type in the file name you have chosen for the archive and click "OK." A new file will be created with a .zip suffix.
