What translate digital signals from a computer into analogue format so that the information can be transmitted over analogue telephone lines?
-
-
Answer:
That would be a Modem. Modem is short for MOdulator - DEModulator The Modulator apparatus converts binary signals into many very short little squeaks of sound that are transmitted on the phone lines. At the other end the Demodulator hears the little squeaks and converts them back into digital signals. Usually there is a Modulator and a Demodulator built into the same box so transmissions can be two-way.
