He was a designer in the Arts and Crafts movement and also the main exponent of Art Nouveau in the United Kingdom. Probably the greatest architect and designer Scotland has produced. His decorative and graphic works are some of the finest manifestations of art nouveau while also being beautiful examples of early modernism.
