How much do game designers make?

How much money do game designers make for each game they design?

  • Answer:

It's totally variable, based on things like the contract, or the scale in which the game was made (is it a small addition to a website, in which case there could be no money paid, or is it a small downloadable game, is it a new game for a big company, etc.) Also, not all money made from designing (or any creative job) is just for designing it. Let's say you made the game Blood&Guts. If you were working for a company, you'd get paid some money for designing it (depends on the size of the company), and every time somebody bought Blood&Guts, you'd get a small percentage of the price (this is called a royalty, and most companies have to pay these to at least one person, and they are generally loath to pay it and want to pay as small as possible royalties- or even not include them in the contract)
