How do you send a fax on a dell computer?

Is it possible to send a fax via computer, without a fax machine?

• Does anyone know of any free VOIP fax programs that will allow me to send an image (e.g. scanned document) from my computer to a fax machine somewhere else in the world without using a modem and phone line on my end? Or if it's a one-time fee for the software, or a minor "per use" charge, that might be acceptable. It's something I've looked into a few times but I just haven't had any luck so far. I don't need to be able to receive faxes, just send them occasionally.

  There are quite a few fax over internet services. Most of them have embeded ads on fax and daily fax limits per account. I use a free online fax service such as http://sendfreefax.net (http://sendfreefax.net/webfax/sendf axform.php) where there is no daily limits and send PDF/ Word and dozens of other file formats directly to US and Canadian phone numbers. This is much better than efax, faxzero, and myfax. Also receive faxes as email where you do not need to have a fax line to receive faxes (http://sendfreefax.net/webfax/free- receive-fax.php).
