Why is cork often used in wine bottles rather than bottle caps?

    because cork alows a small amount of air in to the wine bottle alowing the wine to breath, this gives the wine a more mature taste. a bottle cap alows no air to enter the bottle so the wine cannot breath and therefore mature.
