How to build a basic rich text editor?

What is the best visual SQL query editor?

• I'm using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, but there must be a better tool. The way VS2005 reformats the query text, creates aliases, and mangles functions is driving me nuts. Unfortunately I'm not quite good enough to do everything in notepad and a visual editor helps me build queries faster, though probably not better.
