How is the Norwegian cruise line?

How much does the food cost on Norwegian Cruise Line?

  • We are going on the Norwegian Star to Alaska this spring, and I am a little disheartened to discover that all of the "specialty" restaurants are not included. We have cruised on Royal Caribbean before where everything was included and loved it. For anyone who has cruised with Norwegian before: 1) How much does it actually cost to eat at these specialty restaurants on board? 2) How many free options are there, and do they taste good compared to the specialty restaurants? 3) Do you feel that it was worth the cost to eat at the specialty restaurants compared to the free options? I'm just not so sure what I think of this "freestyle cruising." I haven't done it yet, but I kind of liked having events scheduled at certain times that I could go to. It helped me plan my day a little, and I certainly liked having all of the food included in the price.

  • Answer:

I just got of the Norwegian Pearl. Of the 10 or 11 restaurants aboard only 5 were extra charge. They were 10, 15, 20 and 25 dollars. I ate at the Le Bistro restaraunt and paid 20 per person. And, you are expected to tip. To me, it was worth it. However, if you are not into food, or a gormant, the food in the regular,( that is free), restaurants is fine and there is no extra tips needed.
