It is generally considered bad form to leave visible marks on one's partner. It is inconsiderate and puts their partner in the uncomfortable position of having to explain them. Yes, giving someone a hickey is quite trashy, not to mention rude and inconsiderate. Hickey givers need to learn to controll themselves because it's just not necessary or worth it to have an embarrassing bruise for a week, would YOU want one? These people are sometimes referred to as Blaylocks.
