Builders/Contractors PLEASE ANSWER: How much does it cost to build a house?

  • Ok, I know if varies a lot depending on many factors, but what I'd really like is to get a BALLPARK range of what things might cost, since I have no ideas at all. Hello, I know that you asked this question a while ago. It costs me $ 175/square foot. However this was a bungalow (ranch house ) on one floor 3000 square feet. So essentially double the foundation and ect..so more costly then a 2 story home. This was a custom home, 10 foot ceilings and higher end trim, ipee wood flooring. So it really depends on what you want to build. An average low end 2 story home $ 100/Square FT. You go up from there real quick so do a prelim design first, and get a preliminary budget and go from there. Of course this without the land in these figures. Additionally we finished the basement and added a 2 1/2 apartment for an elder parent or two. A nice feature these days. Costs are excluding land.
