Is there any jobs if I major in astronomy?

Are jobs in astronomy in high demand?

  • Answer:

If you mean "are there a lot of jobs for astronomers", the answer is no, very definitely not. If you mean "are there a lot of astronomers competing for the few jobs there are", then yes, very much so. Astronomy is an exceptionally poor career choice based simply on the "will I be able to get a job and make decent money" criterion. You should really only do it if you love it so much you can't imagine doing anything else. The upside is that course of study for astronomy involves a lot of physics, and the job prospects are rather better for physicists, since that's a field that has real-world applications outside of academia.
