How do I Record Streaming Video Onto My DVD Stand Alone Recorder?

Answer:
The most complicated part of the process of recording video streaming from a computer to a standalone digital video disc (DVD) recorder involves hooking up the computer to a DVD recorder. In order to make this connection it takes a personal computer-to-television converter box and a few cables. Once the connection is set up, it becomes a matter of dubbing from one device to the other. As you playback streaming video on the computer, using a DVD recorder, record the video onto a DVD. Difficulty: Moderately Easy Things You'll Need PC to TV converter box VGA cable (1 or 2) 3.5 mm Stereo to RCA "Y" cable (optional) 1 Set of RCA audio-video cables Blank DVD-R disc Instructions Hooking Up The Computer Use a video graphics array (VGA) cable to connect the VGA video port on the computer to the VGA-input port on the PC-to-TV converter box. Some PC-to-TV converter boxes offer a second VGA port for output. If the box shows a VGA output, use a second VGA cable to connect the VGA output port on the PC-to-TV converter box to the computer monitor's VGA port. This gives the option to use either the computer or TV monitor. Plug one end of a composite video cable into the RCA video output jack on the PC-to-TV converter box. Plug the other end of the cable into the yellow RCA video input jack on the DVD recorder. Some PC-to-TV converter boxes also feature an S-video output. If the converter box has an S-video output, use it in place of the RCA video output jack. Run an S-video cord from the S-video output on the PC-to-TV converter box to the S-video input on the DVD recorder. Insert the 3.5 mm stereo plug end of the 3.5 mm stereo to RCA "Y" cable into the "Line Out" jack on the computer's sound card, the round, blue jack on the back of the computer. Insert the RCA plugs on the other end of this cable into the RCA audio input jacks on the DVD recorder, matching the red plug to the red jack and the white or black plug to the white jack. Use the set of audio-video cables to link the RCA outputs on the back of the DVD recorder to the RCA inputs on the TV. Match the color of the plug to the color of the jack. This step is only necessary if you do not have a VGA cable going from the converter box to your computer monitor--as outlined in step one. Otherwise it's optional. Connect the PC-to-TV converter box to a power source and turn it on. Do the same for the DVD recorder. And turn on all other involved devices such as the computer, computer monitor and television. Recording Streaming Video onto a DVD Recorder Insert a blank DVD-R disc into the DVD recorder. Launch a web browser, then go to the Web page address which shows the streaming video you'd like to record. Change the view of the video stream to full page. When ready to begin recording, press "Record" on the DVD recorder and initiate playback of the video stream. Press "Stop" on the DVD recorder when the video stream completes. Tips & Warnings Tip: Do not forget to finalize the DVD disc. Otherwise you won't be able to play the DVD on any DVD playback device other than your DVD recorder.
