Copying a digital recording from a DVR's hard drive to a video cassette allows a household to see the recording on its VCR. The procedure for copying a DVR's recording to a VCR is straightforward and uncomplicated; the common cables needed can be found in most homes or purchased at little cost from a hobby store or computer shop. Difficulty: Moderately Easy Things You'll Need S-Video cable Audio cable Video tape TV Instructions Place the VCR recorder next to the DVR. Plug one end of a S-Video cable into the S-Video output connection on the back of the DVR. Plug the other end of the S-Video cable into the S-video input on the back of the VCR. Plug the red and white audio plugs at one end of the audio cable into the red and white audio outputs of the back of the DVR. Plug the red and white audio plugs at the other end of the audio cable into the red and white audio inputs on the back of the VCR. Turn the VCR on. Press the "Source" button on the VCR's remote until "Line input" appears on the front of the LCD display panel. Eject the VCR's cassette tray. Place the VHS tape, with the label facing up, into the cassette tray. Close the cassette tray. Turn on the DVR and the TV it is being used with. Navigate to a video that is to be copied to the VCR. Press the "Play" button on the DVR's remote to start the video playing. Press the "Record" button on the VCR. Press the "Stop" button when the video being played from the DVR is finished. Press the "Stop" button on the DVR. Eject the cassette tray and remove the VHS tape. Close the cassette tray and turn the VCR off. Turn the DVR off. Remove all of the cables attached between the DVR and the VCR. Place the VCR away. Tips & Warnings Warning: A digital rights protected video in the DVR can not be copied to a video tape.
