What is 'sound device' on a computer?

My computer has registered that there is absolutely no problem with any sound hardware that my computer has installed It also says there is no audio device connected What can i do to get sound back?

  Just try to open the audio device into coputer panel and then adjust the volume of sound, check some prompt or information if there is requirements to add and set up some device. and also consult the technical support for hardware problem. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A possible cause might be device/driver conflicts. You might have everything working and ready to go, but your comp decides not to load your sound hardware or loads the incorrect device/driver. Go to your comp BIOS (hold down whatever key you need to enter 'Setup' when you restart). Switch the Onboard Audio setting to another setting. What setting you need depends on what you want to load/what's causing the conflict. Good luck, I found this solution in the Nvidia forums and it worked for me.
