How do I remove an item from my toolbar?

How do you remove item from toolbar in mac?

  • Answer:

The Mac does not have a toolbar. To remove icons from the Dock click on the icon and drag it away from the dock. Release the mouse button and the icon is gone. To remove some icons fron the menu bar hold down the Command (cmd) key click on the icon and drag it away from the menu bar. This will not work with all icons as some applications need the show icon in menu bar option to be deselected in their preferences. If this relates to icons on the left side of the Finder bar (the bar always at the top of the screen) then you need to quit the process. To do this, open the Activity Monitor under Utilities. Find the process, and make sure not to quit any important processes, just the one relevant to the icon you wish to get rid of. Select it and choose Inspector. Under here, it will show where you can find the application. Quit the process, then move the application to the trash. Note though, don't delete anything important from the finder bar, such as spotlight, date and time, wireless, sound, bluetooth, or time machine. Some of these you can remove from the finder bar in other ways. If you are getting rid of the vmware icon for example, which is a pesk to get rid of, this is a safe way to do so.
