How did the Blues influence the music these days?

What music did Blues influence?

  • Answer:

Blues influenced nearly every genre of music that came after it. Jazz in all of its various styles and flavors, (Ragtime, Stride, Barrel House, Be-Bop, Smooth, Avant Garde, Acid, etc), was a direct offshoot of blues. Blues was the also the predominant influence in early Rock'n'Roll and it continued to be a major influence as rock music developed and diversified over the years. Blues was also a major factor in the development of bluegrass, in country music and in Southern Gospel as well. Soul (Motown), R & B (stands for Rhythm & Blues), Rap and Hip-Hop can all trace their roots back to the Blues as well. The influence of blues can even be seen in the classical music of the later Romantic period (most notably, "blue notes" can be found in many of the Romantic era melodies and harmonies) as well as in various aspects of Contemporary classical music.
