Instead, use these ports to connect to the stereo or surround sound receiver. Plug the red and white RCA audio cables into the red and white audio-out ports on the back of the DVR. Connect the other end of the RCA cables into one of the audio-in ports on the back of the audio receiver. Take note of either the number or name of the port you are connect the DVR to. Power on the DVR, television and the audio receiver. Set the audio receiver to the name or number of port you have the DVR connected to. When you begin playback you can listen to the audio from the DVR over the speakers of the stereo or surround sound system.
