How to Track a GPRS Phone

  • Answer:

GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) is a technology that was used to enhance 2G phones to enable them to send and receive data more rapidly. A GPRS phone is "always on" and can transfer data immediately and at faster speeds than a 2G phone. Although this technology was popular in the early 2000's, we have since moved on to 3G and even 4G phones. If you still use a GPRS phone, however, you can track it using a GPS service. Difficulty: Moderately Easy Things You'll Need GPS tracking software Web-enabled GPRS phone Instructions Find GPS tracking software that suits your needs, such as Google Maps for Mobile, Instamapper or Mologogo. These will let you track a GPRS phone from any computer, PDA, or smart phone that is connected to the Internet. As of 2010, they are all free of charge. Go to the site that you have chosen and sign up. Provide a phone number, your cell phone carrier, an active e-mail address and a user name and password. Submit the information, and soon after you will receive a text message on your mobile phone. Open up the text message and, in your phone's web browser, go to the URL provided in the text message. Download and install the software from the web page. Restart your phone and it will begin transmitting automatically. Go to "Applications" through your phone's main menu if you want to turn off the transmission. Find the GPS program and select "Off." Visit the website where you registered and log in. Click "-" to zoom out and get a bigger picture. Click on the "Map" view to get a detailed map labeled with street names. Click on the "Satellite" tab to get a detailed view of what the actual surrounding area looks like, including trees, houses and grass.
