How do you receive message alert signal on your computer?

How can i send free text messages to an international cel phone number (overseas number). can i also receive a message from overseas in my computer

    Use Yahoo Messenger or other instant messaging program with free SMS service. In Yahoo Messenger, sign in to your account. Right-click on one of your contacts and select "Contact Details." Enter his or her mobile phone number with country and area code plus the number. Save the changes. Right-click again and select "Send SMS Message." You can now type in your message and send it off just like an instant message when chatting.
