Why in around 2 weeks after changing the alternator on a 2000 ford f 150 super cab xlt does the engine make a rattling or whining noise that comes and goes?

Answer:
I would first check the timing belt/chain and alternator pulley for any odd damage. Its possible the timing is off, or the belt/chain was put on incorrectly.
